Trustee and Former Chair, Auckland Energy Consumer Trust; Trustee since 1994; Deputy Chair Energy Trusts of NZ; Director Mercury Energy 1994-1999, Trustee Challenge Trust; Trustee Auckland Healthy Houses Trust.

As the longest serving trustee my primary commitments remains to ensure an increasing dividend for Beneficiaries, security of supply from the Vector network and the maintenance of NZ control of this strategically important asset.

I believe I have achieved these goals with increasing levels of success since first elected in 1994. As a Trustee and Director of Mercury Energy I instrumental in raising the dividend payout ratio from 60% to 83% in 1998 and I drove the implementation of a standard constitution for the Company in 1999. As Chairman of the Trust I led and obtained a unanimous vote of Trustees for the acquisition of United Networks in 2002 the immediate effect of which was a jump in dividend form about $155 per household to $185. I supported the NGC transaction form the beginning, which increased the dividend level to $280. As Deputy Chair of Energy Trusts of NZ I am in unique position to influence the views of all NZ energy trusts in the lobbying programme with central government. My legal practice specialises in Trust law which has assisted enormously with my role as Trustee and with the increasing regulated environment in which we work
